Public opinions are invited over 'zero emission' ferry link

SOMERSET could get a “zero emission” ferry link to South Wales as part of £10bn plans to build a tidal lagoon to produce clean energy, it’s been suggested.

The West Somerset tidal lagoon project aims to create a tidal lagoon between Minehead and Watchet by 2038 to “power two million homes”.
A key component of the proposal includes the establishment of a modern ferry terminal at Minehead. Under the proposals, a Roll-On/Roll-Off Passenger (ROPAX) ferry, capable of accommodating drive-on/drive-off vehicles, would serve as an alternative to the “heavily congested” M4/M5 corridor and the A39.
Researchers in South Wales looking at how travel could be transformed across the Bristol Channel with a boat link said they have now started “very early discussions” with the West Somerset Lagoon (WSL) team on the ferry plan.
