Will Pirates' new signings challenge Sundowns' dominance?

ORLANDO Pirates have rolled out an aggressive recruitment drive ahead of the 2025/26 season, unveiling eight new signings that signal intent.
But ambition alone doesn't dethrone a dynasty. The big question is: have these additions narrowed the gap to serial champions Mamelodi Sundowns?
While the names may not scream "headline-grabbers," Pirates have focused on age, balance and potential.
The average age of their signings sits at around 24 ~a clear sign of building for both now and the future. But in a league where Sundowns boast depth in every department, is it enough?
1. Sipho Mbule (27)
Arguably the marquee signing of the group, Mbule arrived as a free agent after running down his contract with Sundowns. The creative midfielder has long been admired for his vision and range of passing, but questions remain over his consistency. If Pirates can manage his conditioning and focus, they may have pulled off one of the most astute moves of the window.
2. Tshepang Moremi (24)
