STRANDFONTEIN Beach hummed with excitement as the 9Miles Project launched its inaugural 100Wave Challenge recently, a lively community event aimed at empowering vulnerable youth through surf therapy, mentorship, and education programmes.
The 100Wave Challenge, a globally recognised fundraiser originating from California, made its debut on South African shores, attracting a spirited gathering of surfers, supporters, and volunteers keen to make a difference.
As dawn broke over the Atlantic, surfers paddled out into the surf, with determination glinting in their eyes. Leading the charge was a group known as “The Locals” from Muizenberg, who became the first team to conquer the exhilarating feat of catching 100 waves in a single day.
