Reward for information on Mitchells Plain murders

THE City of Cape Town has offered a reward of R100 000 for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the deaths of five people and injuring seven others in several locations within Mitchells Plain.
“We call on residents to come forward with any information that may assist law enforcement agencies,” deputy mayor Eddie Andrews said in a statement.
This as the chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Police, Ian Cameron, called for a Commission of Inquiry into gangsterism in the Western Cape.
Speaking in the aftermath of Thursday afternoon’s coordinated shootings across the area, Cameron said the incidents exposed the South African Police Service's (SAPS) failure to anticipate and prevent organised gang violence through intelligence-led policing.
“The scale and spread of these deadly incidents underscore that gang violence in the province is neither sporadic nor unpredictable. It is sustained, organised, and should be within the reach of proactive, intelligence-led policing to prevent. Yet, SAPS appears unable to detect or disrupt gang operations before blood is spilled.”
