Vietnam sees opening as AI redraws investment map
Vietnam Investment Review
|June 08, 2026
As AI triggers a global reallocation of value and capital, a new investment map is forming, one in which Vietnam’s opportunity will be defined by its ability to translate the technology into scalable economic gain.
For Vietnam, the investment case in AI may be shaped by a broader ecosystem of companies capable of applying it across finance, manufacturing, consumer services, logistics and more, according to SSI Securities Corporation chief economist and research head Pham Luu Hung at a webinar on June 3.
“When discussing AI, it is important to recognise that Vietnam does not need to compete directly with the US or China in building frontier models,” said Hung. “Vietnam’s advantage lies in adoption rather than invention, which creates opportunities across multiple sectors. Technology companies can help enterprises implement AI solutions and automate processes. Financial institutions can use AI to enhance customer acquisition, personalise products, optimise pricing and strengthen risk management.”
On June 1, Alphabet unveiled plans to raise up to $80 billion to expand its AI computing infrastructure, with Berkshire Hathaway reportedly committing $10 billion to the offering. Just days earlier, Anthropic confidentially filed for an initial public offering, joining a growing list of AI-related companies preparing for public markets alongside OpenAI and SpaceX.
This reshaping of how companies compete, according to Bradley Warden, managing director and senior portfolio manager at Nomura Asset Management International, is what separates AI from previous technology cycles.
