Tech drives new growth cycle for the mining industry
Vietnam Investment Review
|May 18, 2026
Technological innovation is becoming a key driver enabling Vietnam’s mining industry to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.
In early May, Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation reported consolidated pre-tax profit of $44.8 million, up 177 per cent on-year, with the parent company contributing nearly all of the total. The sharp increase reflects improving market conditions while highlighting growing requirements for productivity and technological upgrading across the industry.
Against this backdrop, Mining and Construction Vietnam 2026, held in April in Hanoi, brought together 200 companies from 17 markets to showcase advanced technologies and solutions supporting the sector’s shift towards greater efficiency.
Luo Senghui, CEO of XCMG Southeast Asia, a company with more than 80 years of experience in China’s construction machinery industry, said at the event that with the extensive promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, the company’s development in Vietnam is also entering the race after more than 20 years of presence.
XCMG Southeast Asia has collaborated closely with local businesses, participating in the construction of major national projects such as the Hanoi elevated railway, the North-South expressway, and Lach Huyen Port. It has also provided integrated construction solutions for many large-scale mining projects, contributing to the industrialisation and modernisation process in Vietnam.
“Internationalisation is XCMG’s key strategy, the Southeast Asian market is our main battleground, and Vietnam is a top priority among them,” Senghui said.
