Investment opportunities expanding through the post-restructuring period
Vietnam Investment Review
|April 27, 2026
The expansion of development space following provincial mergers has created a larger and more integrated economic platform. Kathy-Thuy Nguyen, country director of Impact Investment Exchange (IIX) in Vietnam, talked with VIR's Quynh Chau on the outlook for attracting foreign funding into Vietnam.

How do you assess the new opportunities emerging in Vietnam as the country enters a broader development phase following administrative boundary restructuring?
From a private equity perspective, restructuring reduces administrative fragmentation and enables larger-scale planning, lowering coordination costs, expanding market reach, and accelerating project execution.
What makes Vietnam especially attractive is that these reforms are taking place on top of already strong fundamentals. The country continues to benefit from a growing middle class, a competitive manufacturing base, strategic integration into global supply chains, and sustained foreign investor interest. In that context, improved administrative efficiency can have an outsized impact because it allows capital to move with greater clarity and less friction.
Restructuring is also driving a shift in opportunities, from fragmented, opportunistic deals towards platform-style investments that enable businesses to scale across wider geographies and unlock synergies across logistics, industrial development, infrastructure, and more.
A key opportunity lies in addressing the financing gap faced by Vietnamese enterprises, particularly those adapting to green transition requirements or higher environmental, social, and governance and supply chain standards.
Private equity is likely to focus on sectors combining structural demand, scalability, and alignment with Vietnam's long-term priorities.
Logistics and supply-chain infrastructure will remain central, particularly warehousing, multimodal logistics, cold chain, and trade-enabling assets, supporting Vietnam's role as a manufacturing and export hub. Renewable energy and climate-related infrastructure will also gain traction, driven by net-zero commitments and rising global standards.
