Cleaning service employees warned of layoffs Oct. 31
Premier Doug Ford is promising no one working at the shuttered Ontario Science Centre will be left unemployed as the museum is moved to a new location.
“We’ll find jobs for those people within the system, so we’ll help them out,” Ford told reporters Thursday in Toronto.
“I don’t like anyone ever losing their jobs,” he said.
Ford’s comments came after the Canadian Press reported Dexterra Group, which provided the museum’s cleaning services, informed the Ontario Public Service Employees Union that 28 employees will lose their jobs by Oct. 31.
“They’re devastated,” said Martin Fischer, president of OPSEU Local 549, which represents 500 science centre workers.
