CHILD'S PLAY TO DISCOVER MAT
A SEVEN-MINUTE cameo from the bench in the UEFA Youth League was enough to convince Stade Rennes staff that one 14-year-old gem would quickly outgrow the club.
His name? Fresh-faced, skilful Spurs starlet Mathys Tel.
Following a drastic late U-turn, the teenage Frenchman joined Tottenham on an initial loan deal from Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day, which also includes a £45million option to make the transfer permanent this summer.
However, despite the thrill of Ange Postecoglou, Daniel Levy and Johan Lange successfully executing the last-gasp agreement ahead of fellow Premier League rivals, the highly-rated attacker has netted just once in six appearances to date.
