Slow steps to end tide of tragedy

NO political party - not even Reform UK - has found a real solution to stopping rubber dinghies full of asylum seekers from crossing the Channel.

That's because there is no magic answer. And those protesting need to understand that.

The best we can hope for in the short-term are ways to reduce the numbers.

Reform says boats should be sent back to France - but without French agreement, this is an absurdly impractical proposal.

The French no more want irregular migrants on their soil than we do on ours.
