Romesh opens up on his tough times

TV COMIC Romesh Ranganathan today tells how his life was turned upside down as a teenager after his father was jailed for fraud.

He was 15 and at private school when he and his younger brother and mum had to leave the family home.

The Weakest Link host also found out his dad Ranga had been having an affair.

Romesh, 47, opens up on his turbulent teenage years and his mental health battles on Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.

"My dad had lost his job and was trying to make money in this sort of Sri Lankan Del Boy way, and it wasn't working out," Romesh tells host Lauren Laverne.

"He couldn't keep up the mortgage repayments. And my parents couldn't afford the fees at this school I was going to."
