A PRECIOUS cache of love letters lost in a burglary has been returned to its owners after being pulled out of a canal by a magnet fisher.

Arthur Sims wrote the notes to Janet Millington in 1962, three years before they wed.

The new Mrs Sims tied the 32 letters together with a blue ribbon and kept them in her knicker drawer for six decades.

At the time the couple were burgled in May, they were not sure the letters had been taken.

Janet said: “I said to Arch (Arthur), ‘The letters are gone’, and he said, ‘No, youve hid ‘em somewhere. They're somewhere else”.
