Less of a bang and more of a whimper from Ruben's Reds
The Sunday Mirror
|July 20, 2025
RUBEN AMORIM left Manchester United's 'bomb squad' at home - but the players he is ready to put his faith in look far from explosive.
Amorim used the first game of preseason to give no fewer than 24 players a run-out in the Stockholm sunshine after ordering Marcus Rashford and the rest of his misfits to stay behind at Old Trafford.
There were debuts for Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon in the Strawberry Arena, while Bryan Mbeumo will join the squad in the United States this week after the Reds agreed to meet Brentford's £70million valuation.
Amorim will now be hoping Sir Jim Ratcliffe will free up some cash to sign the goalscoring striker he craves with Rashford off to Barcelona for the season with a £50m option to buy.

CONSIDERING he objects to the United Kingdom being \"colonised by immigrants\", it is a touch ironic that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is having to set aside the best part of £16million to pay off a small group of foreign workers.
