SC seeks CBI's response on ex-councillor's plea

NEW DELHI The Supreme Court has recently directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to respond to a petition filed by former Congress councillor Balwan Khokhar, who is currently serving a life sentence for his involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Khokhar, who seeks the suspension of his life sentence, filed the petition after being convicted in connection with the riots.
A bench comprising Justices J.K. Maheshwari and Rajesh Bindal instructed Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati to obtain certificates from jail authorities regarding Khokhar's conduct and behavior during his imprisonment.
