Maha Kumbh 2025: A celestial celebration enhanced by technology

The 2025 Maha Kumbh is set to be an extraordinary event, marked by a rare celestial alignment of the Sun, Moon, Jupiter and Saturn.
This alignment heralds the most auspicious Maha Kumbh in 144 years, drawing an anticipated 40 crore devotees from around the world to partake in sacred rituals at the Triveni Sangam. Such an extraordinary event necessitates extraordinary measures in terms of safety and security, and this is enhanced by the groundbreaking integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced surveillance technologies.
To effectively manage the massive influx of attendees, over 2,750 CCTV cameras equipped with AI-powered video analytics will monitor movements throughout the event. This initiative represents the largest face recognition exercise ever conducted in India. Specialized cameras for number plate recognition and crowd movement monitoring will further enhance the efficiency of crowd management.
