With just four days left for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections on November 6, political activity has reached a feverish pitch across the state. Candidates are making their final attempts to woo voters through rallies, padyatras, and door-to-door outreach. A total of 1,314 candidates are contesting in this phase, which features several heavyweight battles. Among the prominent contenders are Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. High-profile constituencies like Raghopur, Tarapur, Mahua, and Lakhisarai have become the epicenters of attention as political equations, caste dynamics, and local issues dominate the campaign narrative.
RAGHOPUR
Raghopur continues to be one of the most closely watched constituencies this election season. Long considered a bastion of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the seat carries deep emotional and political importance for the Yadav family. It was once represented by Lalu Prasad Yadav, who won in 1995 and 2000, followed by Rabri Devi, who held it three times. Since 2015, Tejashwi Yadav has represented Raghopur and is now seeking a third consecutive term. This time, he faces BJP's Satish Kumar Yadav and Jan Suraaj Party's Chanchal Singh, making it a three-cornered contest.
