S'pore shares rise after Fed eases recession concerns, holds rates

Shares in Singapore enjoyed a welcome boost on March 20 after the US Federal Reserve eased concerns over an impending recession, although it did kick further interest rate cuts down the road.
The breathing room gave the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) enough impetus to rise 22.18 points or 0.6 per cent to 3,930.49, with gainers beating losers 286 to 243 on trade of 1.1 billion securities worth $1.4 billion.
