S'pore shares cap week-long rally with a new high

STI hits intraday peak of 4,192.19 before closing 0.7% up Seatrium tops local index, with HK Land the biggest decliner ASX 200, Hang Seng advance; Nikkei 225 slips ahead of polls
The benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) capped a week-long rally to touch a new high on July 18. The STI rose 0.7 per cent, or 28.07 points, to close at 4,189.50, after hitting an intraday peak of 4,192.19.
The gains were buoyed by DBS Bank, which hit a high of $47.05 in the morning. It eventually closed 0.7 per cent, or 31 cents, higher at $46.99.
Seatrium was the STI's top gainer of the day, rising 5.8 per cent, or 13 cents, to $2.38.
