April 15 South Africa (Vaal) form analysis
-
RACE 1 (1,700M) (3) IDEAL SUMMER had several re-opposing rivals well behind when finishing second over 1,600m in March. Not much improvement needed over this extended trip to open his account. (4) BOLD ACTION and (5) ETHICAL are others likely to improve for this sterner test of stamina. They could make life difficult for the selection, from whom they receive a 3kg sex allowance. (8) LADY NOIR is capable of winning as well.
RACE 2 (1,000M) (1) INSPECTOR JAMES and (2) ALESIAN BEAU appeal most of the raced runners and should play leading roles if building on improved recent performances. A big threat to the principals will likely come from newcomers (9) FORCE PUBLIQUE and stable-mate (12) WOENSDAG KOERANT, with riding arrangements suggesting the latter is preferred.
RACE 3 (1,000M) (1) DESERT CLOUD would not be winning out of turn. With improvement expected after a much-needed comeback outing, he gets the nod ahead of (10) QUIET WINTER, (8) CAPTAIN SELVIE and (9) EIGHT HATS. Those 2YO rivals would have come on appreciably from encouraging introductory outings and also receive 3kg from the selection.
