Low-income caregivers can get NTUC grants from mid-April

The widow is living on her savings, as she had to quit her job in the civil service in October 2024 to cope with her many duties.

She is among low-income caregivers who will be able to apply for aid under a new NTUC Care Fund (Caregiver Support) programme from mid-April.

The $5.4 million fund, announced in November 2024, aims to help over 4,000 beneficiaries a year from 2025 to 2027.

"His expenses can cost me about $400 to $500 a month," said Madam Farahin, referring to her father's adult diapers and pureed food.

Single caregivers with a maximum monthly gross income of $6,000 can apply for the fund to look after children aged 19 and below or elderly parents above 63 years old.

If the caregiver's gross monthly income exceeds $6,000, their per capita income has to be $1,500 or below in order to qualify for the fund.
