Redemption looms on Oct 11 when Treasurethe Moment faces off against three rivals in the A$1 million (S$852,000) Group 1 Might And Power (2,000m) at Caulfield.
Treasurethe Moment’s reputation suffered the slightest of dents when her sequence of nine consecutive victories was ended in dramatic style by another champion mare, Pride Of Jenni, in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes (1,600m) at Moonee Valley on Sept 26.
Any concerns that Pride Of Jenni had not returned to her best were quickly erased when she adopted her customary catch-me-if-you-can tactics to claim victory.
Treasurethe Moment, who has 10 wins and three seconds from 13 starts, chased hard and looked like she was going to haul in Pride Of Jenni, who hung on for a gutsy one-and-three-quarter-length win.
Trainer Matt Laurie admitted the defeat was a bitter pill to swallow.
“I was pretty disappointed at the time; I don’t like losing any race,” said the Mornington trainer.
