Aug 9 South Africa (Turffontein) form analysis

RACE 1 (1,160M) (3) CLEVER TREVOR caught the eye when second on debut over track and trip. Will not need to improve much to go one better.

A bigger threat may come from well-bred newcomers (5) MIDNIGHT FLYER and (2) ACTUARY, especially if the betting market speaks in their favour.

(7) TRIP TO PEACE stepped up from his debut run to finish fourth last time over 1,400m. Progress over this shorter trip expected.

RACE 2 (1,160M) (6) QUIET WINTER showed promise in both starts as a 2YO last season and is open to improvement after a layoff. She is one of three with race experience.

Watch the betting on the newcomers, of whom (4) MANURIKI and (5) PERFECT MIRACLE are of particular interest.

(1) LOST FOR WORDS made her debut in a KZN feature as a 2YO but has not been seen since. She missed her entire 3YO campaign, but cannot be underestimated first-up for a new stable.

RACE 3 (2,000M) Runner-up in consecutive recent starts, including once on this track and trip, (10) SCARLETT HEART and (1) FOLLOW THE MASTER would not win out of turn.

The former receives 7.5kg from the latter, so will be hard to beat if as effective over this extended trip.
