FA Cup poisoned chalice as United eye post-Xmas sales

What is the value of the FA Cup in 2025? For followers, particularly those of smaller, non-league clubs, such as Tamworth, who host Tottenham Hotspur on Jan 12, the tradition endures, as do the paydays that can sustain further years of existence.
For the modern football manager, the FA Cup can buy time. Mikel Arteta won the trophy in 2020 with Arsenal, cushioning his early years in charge. Winning the trophy last season, beating Manchester City, kept Erik ten Hag in the Manchester United job. As the holders defend their trophy at Arsenal, winning it has taken the role of a poisoned chalice.
