Clever spending behind Reds' start, says Fowler

English giants Liverpool have thrown away leads in the Community Shield, English Premier League, Champions League and League Cup this season, prompting critics to suggest that their title defence could be in trouble, but former Reds striker Robbie Fowler believes their start has been “close to perfection”.
After losing the Community Shield to Palace on penalties, Arne Slot’s men have racked up seven straight wins -— six of which were single-goal victories and six through goals scored after the 80th minute.
In an email interview ahead of their Sept 27 away match against Palace, the 50-year-old told The Straits Times: “Liverpool have been brilliant and I don’t subscribe to the narrative that they’re just grinding out wins.
“They’ve been dominant for large portions of their games, which is a sign of a very successful and very good team.
