Chinese hotels expand footprint in South-east Asia

As China's appeal continues to grow, travellers to the country may be familiar with homegrown property brands such as the wallet-friendly Ji Hotel, which offers clean, fuss-free digs in city centre locations.

A night at Ji Hotel Shenzhen Convention Center, for instance, costs between $85 and $95 and has a score of 9.7 out of 10 on booking platform Trip.com.
The brand is owned by Chinese company H World Group, which operates around 12,000 hotels in China - and a growing number in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. It made its international debut in 2019 with Ji Hotel Orchard Singapore, a six-minute walk from Dhoby Ghaut MRT station.
