Now enjoy AC ride in local train

If all goes as planned, passengers in Sealdah and Ranaghat route could enjoy the comfort of air-conditioned rake local trains by shelling out Rs 29 per trip, in the next few weeks.

A state-of-the-art AC rake reached the Ranaghat car shed yesterday and has become a big draw among commuters and netizens.

According to sources, the AC rake is likely to be rolled out in Sealdah-Ranaghat main line route, which is one of the busiest in the division.

The 12-car 3-phase AC EMU rake has been manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. The rake operates on 25 KV AC traction with maximum speed up to 110 kmph.

All the 12 coaches of the rake are fully air-conditioned by 2x15 ton RMPUs fitted in every coach. The coaches are made of stainless steel body with straight side walls.
