Karnataka Budget Session: BJP calls Governor's address a 'pure lie'

As expected, the Karnataka budget session that began on Monday got off to a predictably stormy start with the opposition dubbing the governor's speech lauding the government's guarantee schemes with no adverse effect on the economy as "a bunch of lies."

The opposition, comprising the BJP and Janata Dal (Secular), is also furious with the schedule of the budget session that it says is very short and will not leave much time for critical examination and evaluation of the budget in the house.

BJP state unit president B.Y. Vijayendra alleged that all development in the state has come to a standstill, but the governor's address prepared by the Siddaramaiah government is saying exactly the opposite. "If you listen to the governor's address, you will know that this government has wasted the Governor's time. The governor's address starts by saying the state government has succeeded in ensuring speedy development of the state. But the government made the governor's address a pure lie," the BJP leader said.
