The brutal murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar, whose body was discovered in a septic tank in Bijapur, has sparked outrage across Chhattisgarh, igniting widespread protests and fierce political debates.

The chilling case, linked to Chandrakar's investigative reporting on corruption, has raised urgent questions about press freedom and the safety of journalists in the state.
Chandrakar, a fearless journalist known for his commitment to uncovering the truth, went missing on 1 January. Following intense searches by police and local reporters, his body was found on 3 January in a septic tank concealed under freshly laid concrete.
Investigators suspect his murder stemmed from his reporting on a 120 crore road project, allegedly marred by corruption and awarded to his relative, Suresh Chandrakar, who remains the prime suspect.
