Textile sector welcomes new Labour Codes, albeit with scepticism & questions

The recently notified Labour Codes may offer big gains for India's textile & apparel sector, but the new wage provisions may pose more challenges than one.

There is no doubt that the new Labour Codes have the potential to vastly improve the competitiveness of India’s textile and apparel sector, but provisions related to the wage component and interstate migrant workers would need careful navigation by textile and apparel units, feels Noorul Hassan, Executive Partner, Lakshmi kumaran Sridharan Attorneys (LKS).
