RCB pull off stiff chase to defeat LSG, ensure top-two finish

Royal Challengers Bengaluru pulled off an epic chase to clinch a six-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in the last league stage clash of IPL 2025 at the Ekana Stadium here on Tuesday.
The southern outfit thus ended the league stage with a top-two finish and ensured a spot in Qualifier 1, having accumulated 19 points from 14 matches, ensuring that they go into the playoffs on a high. They will take on table toppers Punjab Kings in the playoffs, who also notched up 19 points, but are ahead due to a superior run rate.
It was heartbreak for the Super Kings who shook off the despondency of a disappointing season to put up a spirited fight in their last engagement of this IPL edition. They finished on 12 points from 14 games.
Chasing a formidable target of 228, RCB rode half-centuries by Virat Kohli and Jitesh Sharma to ensure victory with eight balls to spare.
