Mike Hesson to take over as Pakistan white ball coach

Former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson was on Tuesday unveiled as Pakistan's new men's white-ball head coach, succeeding Aqib Javed, who served as the interim head coach following Gary Kirsten's departure in October 2024.
Javed, under whom the Pakistan side failed to reach the knockouts of the ICC Champions Trophy at home, will remain involved with Pakistan cricket, transitioning to the position of Director of High Performance.
Hesson, currently the head coach of Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), will take over the reins of Pakistan's national white-ball team from May 26. At the international level, Hesson has previously led New Zealand and Kenya. Under his guidance, the Black Caps became a formidable force, reaching the final of the 2015 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.
Speaking on Hesson's appointment, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said, "I am pleased to announce the appointment of former New Zealand cricketer and renowned coach Mike Hesson as the white-ball head coach of the Pakistan men's team."
