YSRCP MP in judicial custody till 1 Aug; Jagan slams illegal arrest

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada sent YSRCP MP PV Midhun Reddy to judicial custody till 1 August in connection with the alleged multi-crore liquor scam.
Reddy, considered close to former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, was arrested by the Special Investigation Team Saturday evening after the Supreme Court refused to grant him protection from arrest.
The three-time MP from Rajampet was designated as accused number 4 by the investigators in the liquor scam, in which irregularities were allegedly committed to gain undue pecuniary advantage from certain distilleries and suppliers of liquor, and causing severe losses to the government exchequer. Meanwhile, former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned the arrest as "illegal" and said Midhun Reddy was falsely implicated in the case as a part of the TDP government's vendetta.
