Iron ore and aluminium production rise in FY25: Govt data

From April to February in the Financial Year 2025, iron ore production recorded an increase of 4.4 per cent, rising to 263 million metric tonnes (MMT) from 252 MMT in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to provisional government data.
In the non-ferrous metal sector, primary aluminium production grew by 0.9 per cent in the same period, increasing to 38.36 lakh tonnes (LT) from 38.00 LT last year.
India is the second-largest aluminium producer, among the top ten producers of refined copper, and the fourth-largest iron ore producer in the world.
