ER RPF registers about 9 per cent rise in prosecutions

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Eastern Railway (ER) registered about a nine per cent increase in prosecutions in 2025 as compared to the previous year of 2024.
According to the Eastern Railway office, in 2025, RPF registered 79,710 cases across four divisions under 29 sections of the Railway Act, 1989, leading to the arrest and prosecution of 88,098 offenders. From these arrests and prosecutions, the RPF collected fines of more than two crores. Apart from this, the RPF, under the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1966, registered atotal of 252 cases resulting in the arrest of 529 offenders.
