Congress to intensify protests against Kerala govt in 'custodial torture' case

Congress leaders in Kerala on Thursday said the party would intensify protests over the alleged brutal custodial torture of Youth Congress Chovvannur block president VS Sujith, if stringent action is not taken against the five policemen accused in the case.
Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala assembly, V D Satheeshan (photo) said in Kochi on Thursday that the party would organise mass protests if the accused policemen are not dismissed from service. "We will go to any extreme beyond what has been done so far by Congress. There is no compromise in this matter," he told media persons. Satheesan alleged that Sujith was brutally tortured by the police despite being innocent.
