Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshaslacks spark

Indian cinema in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and even earlier harped on romances. There were parental objections, and often we had a villain who had an eye on the girl. But the characters were neatly slotted: there was no confusion about who the hero was and who the bad man was. Today, this line has blurred, and we saw this in Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas, directed by Akshay Shere, now playing on Zee5.
Keeping up with the present trend, the film is all about crime and a criminal - a subject that is now being beaten to death by Indian cinema. The plot is very ordinary, and even a good actor like Arshad Warsi (remember him in Jolly LLB?) could not get the movie off the ground. With a script that looks so stretched and begins to wander, Bhagwat — now playing on Zee5 — may have very limited appeal among theatre audiences, and the producers have wisely let it open on a streaming platform.
