Target is to place Odisha among top 5 states in the country: CM

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday reiterated his government's commitment to make Odisha one of the top five states in the country, stressing on industrial growth, infrastructure expansion and self-reliance across key sectors.
Addressing a conference on 'Empowering the Growth Engine of Odisha' organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Laghu Udyog Bharati here, the CM said the upcoming GST reforms would usher in a "huge transformation" in trade. "Consumption will rise, manufacturing will expand, and employment opportunities will increase," he remarked.
Taking a swipe at the previous BJD government, Majhi alleged that it merely signed MoUs for publicity without follow-up action. "Our government has already grounded several major projects based on MoUs signed earlier this year," he asserted.
