History and heritage are never dead. Rather they are just showing us the future avenues to grow, prosper and progress in a positive way, observed experts speaking at the second anniversary celebration of the Dhenkanal Heritage Walks (DHW).
Professor Sanjay Acharya, said the architects of Kalingan temples built the magnificent structures like titans and finished them like jewelers, referring to the intricate carvings at the temple walls, gates, windows and the other ancillary portions.
He also dwelt on the genesis of the temple architecture in Odisha and how it has evolved through the patronage of the various dynasties and clans, who ruled the region.
The linear structure evolving from the "Nagara" style as "Rekha", "Pidha" and "Khakhara" types, make a distinct signature of the temples of the Kalingan region.

Where the Moon sails the river
n Kartika Purnima, when the full moon spills itself over the Mahanadi and its sister rivers, Odisha becomes a single long, luminous sigh. The night is at once festival and elegy: lamps drift like small stars, miniature boats glide like secret letters, and the water takes the moon’s light and keeps itas memory.
