Diarrhea situation worsens in parts of Jajpur district

Two succumb, 500 affected, health teams deployed
The diarrhea outbreak in several parts of Jajpur district has turned grim claiming two lives and affecting 500 people.
The worst-hit areas include Dharamsala, Jajpur, Danagadi, Korei and Rasulpur blocks, where local hospitals are overwhelmed by the sudden spike in patients showing gastrointestinal symptoms. The water-borne disease which initially surfaced in the Dharmasala area late Monday night has taken a turn for the worse as several areas in the district have been affected as on Wednesday.
District officials confirmed that over 95 patients are under treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital alone followed by 55 are undergoing treatment at Dharmasala Community Health Centre (CHC).
