Narrow escape for US pastor - and for SA

AS IF OUR relationship with the US was not already at an all-time low, the kidnapping of an American clergyman at gunpoint, while doing duty at a pulpit in Motherwell, Eastern Cape, would have surely caused added angst for all and sundry in various government departments.

Media reports indicated that pastor Josh Sullivan was abducted by robbers for profiteering purposes. Thank God he was located unharmed on Tuesday.

His rescue mission outside a safe house in Gqeberha was stuff made in Hollywood.

Sullivan was in the car along with three of his abductors, who came under fire from Hawks investigators.

Miraculously, the bandits were taken out, but Sullivan emerged unharmed from the intelligence-driven operation.
