'You lied through your teeth to escape criminal proceedings'

A LYING mum who believes she is pregnant again has been jailed - after giving a former friend’s name when she was pulled over by the police.

Rebecca Marfleet passed over the false details for a Leah Hanks when officers stopped the vehicle.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the 33-year-old ‘panicked’ as she had previously been banned from driving in 2022 and 2024.

Marfleet, of Bradwell Lane, Bradwell, had two passengers when the Mini Cooper was stopped in Longport in April last year.

Now she has been locked up for 12 weeks after the judge was shocked to learn she may be expecting a baby.

Judge Robert Smith asked ‘Is she daft?, adding: “I hope that's not an attempt to win over this court because that’s not going to happen.”
