Ceramics leaders take case to Parliament

'We set out how Government can step up to help us thrive'

INDUSTRY leaders have spelled out to MPs exactly what action needs to be taken to help the ceramics sector ‘survive and thrive!

Ceramics UK members were given an opportunity to discuss major issues directly with parliamentarians at the House of Commons.

The meeting - hosted by Stoke-on-Trent Central MP Gareth Snell - follows industry concerns over eye-watering energy costs.

The price of gas is now six times higher than it was in 2022 and was among the factors blamed for the collapse of two city potbanks - Royal Stafford and Moorcroft - this year.

Although Moorcroft was saved by a grandson of the company founder, dozens of jobs were lost across the companies.

Representatives from across Ceramics UK’s membership, including clay brick, gift and tableware, refractories, advanced ceramics, suppliers and sanitaryware manufacturers, took advantage of the parliamentary dinner.
