Entrepreneur looking to the future as multi-million pound deal ends 25 years ownership of water park
BUSINESSMAN Mo Chaudry is looking to the future after selling Waterworld in a deal estimated to be worth tens of million of pounds.
The sale of Waterworld Leisure Limited and Waterworld Leisure Group Limited to European leisure giant Looping Group was completed on July 31.
It signalled the end of a year of negotiations and 26 years of Mo's ownership after he bought the Festival Park attraction in 1999 for £1.5 million. The value of the Looping deal has not been disclosed but it takes Mo's family investment company's net worth to over £170 million.
Since opening in 1989 Waterworld has welcomed millions of visitors. Under Mo's ownership, it underwent extensive reinvestment with high-adrenaline rides and family entertainment zones.
