Warning after lithium battery blamed for bin wagon blaze

'Dispose of them properly,' says fire boss
FIREFIGHTERS say lithium batteries triggered a blaze in the back of a bin wagon - which saw waste dumped out on a city estate.
Two fire engines were called to Chell Heath to reports of smoke coming from the city council lorry.
Quick-thinking crews dumped the rubbish out onto Deakin Road where it was extinguished along with the charred rubbish still inside the vehicle.
The alarm had been raised at around 8am on Thursday.
The road was taped off to allow a clean-up operation to be carried out.
A JCB was then brought in to scoop up the rubbish and load it into a large skip. No injuries were reported.
