FOLLOWING the government's ban on single-use vapes due to concerns about their safety, a groundbreaking study suggests e-cigarettes could be worse for long-term health than regular smoking.

All sales or supplies of disposable vapes in the UK are now unlawful, whether they contain nicotine or not, applying to both physical shops and online retailers.

But according to Dr Maxime Boidin, right, a renowned expert in cardiac rehabilitation who has carried out the world's first controlled study into the long-term effects of vaping, even refillables should face tougher restrictions due to the significant risks they pose.

While the NHS deems vaping as "substantially less harmful than smoking" and endorses it as a method for quitting, Dr Boidin's findings may prompt a revaluation of this stance and possibly lead to intensified calls for vapes to only be accessible via prescription.

In his study monitoring the health of various volunteer groups, he discovered that both vapers and smokers exhibited similar levels of arterial damage.
