PORT Vale owner Carol Shanahan has seen it all in her time at the helm of the club, whether it be the highest of promotion highs or the lowest of relegation lows, but she says another season back in League One holds excitement rather than fear.

- Dan Newbould

If the task of tackling League One next year had not dawned on them yet it certainly had when the fixture computer pulled out Rotherham away and Cardiff at home as their first two games.

But speaking to BBC Radio Stoke, Shanahan insisted: “League One, at the moment, I think is a good fit for us.

“We went through all the other clubs the other day and looked at them as to where they finished last year, what their ownership is like, what their public aspirations are like just to see where we did fit. It holds excitement. It doesn't hold fear.

“I am excited about it. We have got Rotherham first and then Cardiff. What a start, heavens! It gives you butterflies.
