Todd to thank hospice that cared for mum in final days

KINDHEARTED Todd Colwell is taking part in a half marathon - to raise money for the hospice that cared for his cancer-stricken mother. Todd and his girlfriend Jasmin Callan will be taking on the Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday, May 18.

Todd's mother, Helen Hicks, sought medical advice in January 2023 after suffering with persistent 'cold-like' symptoms. She was then referred to Leighton Hospital in Crewe - where she was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer.

Tragically, Helen passed away 22 months later in December 2024, aged just 56. Heartbroken son Todd, of Porthill, says the loss was 'completely devastating.

The 21-year-old said: "Finding out the news was tough. But I didn't want to succumb to it. I knew there was chemo and there was things we could do to extend her life. And I was living with her - I didn't want her to see it getting the better of me because I knew it might rub off on her and make her feel bad.
