Thug bit off part of a man's ear before laughing about it

DAD Nathan Hammersley bit off part of a man's ear after a row in a pub.

The 23-year-old was out drinking with his dad Mark Hammersley and friend Nathan Williams when trouble erupted in The Village Tavern pub in Leek Road, Joiners Square.

A couple left the pub after a verbal spat with the Hammersleys. But Nathan Hammersley and his dad followed, dragged the man out of his car and assaulted him.

During the fight Nathan Hammersley bit off part of the man's ear and damaged the victim's car. Williams, aged 23, joined in when he saw the victim getting the better of Mark Hammersley.

The man's ear could not be reattached and the victim has been 'profoundly affected.' Now Nathan Hammersley has been jailed for 40 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. Mark Hammersley, aged 44, was sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and Williams was handed a 12-month community order.
