Thousands of pounds worth of drugs intercepted at airport

Debt-ridden man on 'downward spiral' imported cannabis
CANNABIS addict Garry Freeman imported tens of thousands of pounds of the drug from abroad.
The 48-year-old imported three parcels of herbal cannabis from America in January 2023.
The drugs were to be passed on to someone else for limited financial reward but he did supply a small amount to family and friends at no cost.
Now Freeman, above, has been sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 12 months, at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Prosecutor Salek Ahmed said police turned up at Freeman's home on February 6, 2023 due to suspicions he was importing cannabis.
Mr Ahmed said: “A package was intercepted on January 26, 2023 at Stansted Airport. It was addressed to the defendant.
“It contained six packages, each containing 500 grams of herbal cannabis from the USA.
