CRICKET: Harry Smith bagged seven wickets to help Oakamoor seconds to victory on their NSSCL Division Three visit to Onneley.

Smith helped himself to 7-29 to restrict Onneley to 165-9 from their 40 overs. Tom Salt led the Onneley batting bid with 54, which contained eight fours, while Togeer Ashraf Mohammad (22), Jibu Abraham (20) and Jake Short (20) also made starts.

Scott Heathcote replied with 31, but Mohammed Khalid’s 3-18 and two wickets for Adam Edwards helped to reduce the visitors to 116-7. But Oakamoor were not to be denied and Matthew Carnwell (38no) and Matt Wolff (29no) joined forces to secure a three-wicket triumph.

Longton seconds cruised to the points in their home encounter with Bignall End 2nd XI.

A Alles’ unbeaten 109, which included 11 boundaries and three sixes, formed the backbone of Longton’s imposing 222-5 from their allocation.
